Project and Encoding notes

Please note that this page is pretty out of date, and probably will be until I find myself bored enough to update it.

Hmmm, well I am bored and want to start being productive, I guess I can make this page just filled with notes and stuff about issues and other stuff I encountered when encoding, similar to what ZX always used to do. Though I doubt this will be as helpful as those ZX notes.

Slayers
Oh man I can not believe what I have gotten myself into. These damn DVD's are not just a mess they should be considered remastering malpractice! They contain frame blending, because that was part of how the actual artstyle was drawn and not because it was teleclined like normal. They are also heavily interlaced so I guess atleast I can fix that. Its quiet amazing really, they managed to make something really blurry and contain alot of noise at the same time, aliasing is just as abundant as the artifacts that inhabit these DVD's, I swear it these DVD's would have their own ecosystem if these things onscreen were as alive as they real life counterparts.  Unfortunately due to alot of bad art eh not really bad per say just old art, the facial expressions can encounter really weird inconsistencies that might seem like they have been uber warpsharped into oblivion, like here look at Gourry's eyes! I think he has been watching the Ring too much. Either way there is no real way to fix that, so just do not blame it on me, the rest of the video will hopefully be much better maintained than the ZX or AX encode. Both uber smooth and you loose alot of details.

Mahoromatic
Well these DVD's are not terrible, they are pretty noisy and I do not like how unfocused every scene looks. Also the lines are a bit thick and some of them do not connect all the way. Also this bluray was teleclined so that was easily fixed. There was some minor haloing which I got rid of. A major issue that came up was that the OP differed slightly from the R1 or english OP and the eyecatch in the middle also differs randomly depending on the episode and the ED is actually much longer on the R1 than on the bluray. So with no actual work, you would get a really desynchronized audio video experience, not to mention the same deal with subs. Thank god for Sashamaru, he is syncing the audio to the video and timing it right. I can not stand that kind of work, I can really only deal with laborious and redundant tasks if I can see slow changes that are actual noticeable.

V2 Notes: I am using a revamped script, it maintains alot more detail and has less problems with banding, also looks sharper.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor Remastered
I have no actual idea how the originals looked, but judging at the fact that the "remastered" is just the R2 video, I am gonna assume that it was no so great. Either way noise and grain to the max, its almost like they just added extra grain and noise just to fill up the left over space. Lines look good so no modifications are needed there so that should increase encoding speed. Did I mention how much grain there was? Let me put this into perspective. Slight increase in color as I normally do.

V2 Notes: I have never seen this much grain before, I had to go and research and find new filters just to be able to handle the large amount. Either way the end result is a very clean looking result which much less loss of detail than the E-D encode but with much less extra noise and grain.

V3 Notes: Well it turns out that I could do with a bit more sharpening and other tweaks encode looks good now, just need to finish it up.
Godannar
V4 notes:
Ooh encoding Godannar is like trying to lockpick a treasure chest, I have had to make many attempts each time getting closer. This last time got the first part right but then when it came to the second I had to start over. The first encode look REALLY good. But I have to redo it because for some reason the script has MAJOR errors as soon as you hit DVD 2. I could try and see if it is the dvd and not my encode which hopefully is the case, but until then I am gonna have to redo it. I will be leaving the first 5 episodes up

Galaxy Angel
Yay!!! Galaxy Angels does not look like crap! It actually looks pretty good and artwise it is very nice too. One issue that I normally run into that I did not was color deformation or chroma issues. As I said the nice artstyle leads to small crips lines, these do not need to be modified, though I will make them darker. Color needs to be raised a little. Some minor noise and aliasing. Only real issue here is minor haloing and I cleared that up pretty good. Should be a very fast encode with 13 minute episodes.

V2 notes
Well I forgot to smooth using unfilter, I did that and tweaked it a little and now it looks perfect.

Welcome to the Dual-Duality and the Anime Archive

Welcome newcomers and people who have been here through the Ages. I am the keeper of this archive. This website shall be used for 2 purposes
1: To release my groups encodes and create a community.
2:To document and obtain good anime. The anime has to be finished but may or may not be dubbed ( I will state if it is dubbed or subbed) and may or may not involve mild nudity (again I will state if it does, also nipples nothing else or that is hentai),pictures or screenshots may be used (and are encouraged but no nudity), also I may state the main genres that are most prominent in the series.

Things that are required to download everything correctly:
A torrent client (utorrent works well)
A BakaBT account (that is where I usually link to and I upload anime there)
"JDownloader"> (it is a type of download manager for Direct download sites like RS,MU and Mediafire which I will be using alot of, but can also download batches of files from a single index file, I will only use these rarely but they will be used if no other option is available. It also has native support for mediafire so it makes things much easier.)
